M8 Controller Box

Designed to simplify complex hardware setups, the M8 Controller Box turns your OAK4 camera into a true central control hub. It equips users with the physical connections needed to read and write digital and analog GPIO pins, communicate via CAN or RS232 Serial, and control heavy-duty power relays.

Important PR1 Prototype Capabilities:

As a PR1 prototype, software features are currently rolling out. Please note the current support status for this hardware revision:

• Fully Supported: CAN Bus, USB-A, UART / RS232, LEDs, Buttons, Relays, and GPIOs.

• Partially Supported: Strobe.

• Not Yet Supported (Coming in Public Launch): M8 Passthrough and Interfaces (ADC/I2C/SPI).

Hardware Features & Specifications

While some software features are still in development, the PR1 prototype includes the following fully integrated physical hardware specifications:

• GPIOs: 16x GPIOs featuring 3.3V IO with reverse voltage and ESD protection. The total combined current for all GPIO pins must not exceed 50mA.

• Power Relays: 4x SPDT / Latching relays handling up to 16A of current and a maximum switching voltage of 400VAC.

• Strobe Output: Isolated strobe driver capable of driving a 5-24V strobe light.

• CAN Interface: Supports CAN2.0A and B, baud rates up to 1M. Native Linux SocketCAN interface

• Serial Interface: 1x RS232

• USB: 2x USB 2.0 Type-A downstream ports.

• Audio: Onboard buzzer (speaker) and a headphone/AUX jack with mic input. Note: The speaker is automatically disconnected when the AUX port is in use.

• User Interface: 3x physical buttons and 3x status LEDs.

• Power: Supplied directly by the 5V output from the OAK4 M8 connector.
